Sheet Metal Workers were commonly exposed to asbestos while installing duct work in crawlspaces in residences and commercial buildings. One study of Sheet Metal Workers in the United States and Canada showed that of the 1,300 workers surveyed, more than half had abnormal chest x-rays that indicated damage that might be attributable to asbestos exposure. This exposure can result in a number of life threatening respiratory conditions, as well as mesothelioma, a deadly cancer associated only with asbestos.
In order to help better educate people of all occupations on asbestos exposure, The Asbestos and Mesothelioma Center has created an entire occupations section on their website at http://www.asbestos.com
The information and support we provide make it a great benefit to patients and family caregivers. Please take the time to look through our website.
